Oncology Services International earns ISO 9000:2008 Certification for its Quality System

MONTEBELLO, N.Y. – Oncology Services International, a radiation therapy device and service company based in New York, announces that its quality system has been certified by an independent auditor as compliant with the ISO 9000:2008 standards set by the International Organization for Standards (ISO).

ISO certification is a globally accepted standard for providing assurance about the quality of goods and services in supplier-customer relations. The standards of the ISO 9000 series are guided by eight quality management principles including customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.

The ISO certification process was spearheaded by Oncology Services International Founder, Philip Podmore, who saw this designation as a way to continue to raise the company’s already high standards for the management of its Quality System. It would also result in a continued reduction in the cost of health care for its customers and invest in areas that will help grow the business in a positive direction.

“Benchmarking ourselves against an internationally recognized standard helps ensure that we continually strive for improvement,” said  Podmore. “Our current and prospective customers will see external proof that Oncology Services International takes its responsibilities seriously and professionally.”

The certification recognizes quality in all aspects of the company operations, from the Field Service Division whose work ensures that complex equipment used in radiation therapy centers is always available for the patients who need it, to the refurbishment facility that makes sure the pre-owned linear accelerators supplied to cancer clinics are as reliable as new units from the factory.
