Prowess Panther IMRT inverse planning offers a real time visualization of the DVH for all structures of interest as the system finds solutions. In addition a unique approach is applied known as DAO-Direct Aperture OptimizationTM which minimizes the number of delivery segments required in Step and Shoot to achieve the best solution treating the tumor and sparing defined critical structures of interest. This approach claims benefits both in time saving, but also in the reduction of the necessary MU needed to achieve the desired treatment.

CMS Xio IMRT incorporates many lessons from earlier inverse planning software, and features a fast optimization algorithm. Segmentation support for Elekta Siemens and Varian MLC's is standard. Additionally Xio IMRT has Siemens ImFAST MLC segmentation software embedded in it to speed up the delivery of planned segments which is ideal with OSI IMRT ready Siemens Linear Accelerators.

A unique feature of Xio IMRT is the calculation of compensator profiles which can be sent via internet to a custom machine shop. Solid Compensator IMRT has some limitations but can be an entry method for low volume IMRT delivery, delaying the up front cost of an MLC for a per patient cost and additional therapist workload.
